A single scheduling change and a wave of Old Town openings have compressed what used to be a spread-out fall calendar into a single dense stretch between August 29 and October 10. The season still turns on Tour de Fat. What has changed is what comes after. In previous years, the week following Tour de Fat felt like a lull. Old Town emptied out. The Poudre Trail was for cyclists again instead of tourists. Restaurants along Mountain and Linden caught their breath before the holiday season.
This year the lull is gone. The calendar picks back up in less than four weeks, and it does not slow down until mid-October.

Read those two dates together. Taste of Fort Collins used to sit in a June slot when the city was still ramping up for summer. For roughly forty-eight hours the eight blocks between Washington Park and Old Town Square will function as a single event.

October Belongs To Old Town Square
The second wave lands two weeks later. FoCo Fall Fest returns to Old Town Square on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and the event brings 100 plus local vendors, live music, and free fall activities to the square.
The following weekend belongs to the dogs. The 12th Annual Tour de Corgi takes place in October 2026, with hundreds of costumed corgis, a meet-up with dozens of vendors, and a costume contest at Civic Center Park before the parade trots through Historic Old Town. If you have never wandered over on a whim, it is worth the ten minute walk from anywhere in the Old Town core. The photography alone is a citywide event.
A few things to plan around across the October arc:
- Old Town Square gets pedestrian dense between 10 AM and 2 PM on Fall Fest Saturday. Park at the Firehouse Alley garage before 9:30 if you are driving in.
- Civic Center Park fills up early on Tour de Corgi morning. Locals with dogs of any breed can join the meet-up portion.
- The lights come on shortly after. The Downtown Fort Collins Holiday Lighting Ceremony illuminates the beloved downtown, and the low-energy LED display stretches through seven blocks and stays up through February 14.
The Dining Layer That Made This Fall Possible
None of this compression would work if Old Town could not absorb the traffic. It is worth spending a minute on why the food scene has quietly caught up with the calendar.
Indigo: Modern Indian Cuisine and Bar has brought contemporary Indian cuisine and craft drinks to Old Town. Maida Trattoria opened in Old Town offering Italian dishes in a warm, neighborhood-style setting. La Boutique French Deli and Market introduced fresh breads, sandwiches, pastries, and specialty market items that read like a French cafe. Three separate cuisines, three separate ownership groups, all in walking distance of Old Town Square. Two years ago, a Saturday like September 26 would have pushed dinner reservations out to Timnath or Harmony Corridor. This year, dinner can stay downtown.
The pipeline is deeper than what has already opened. A new restaurant and bar created by restaurateur Adrian Hembree will anchor a redeveloped commercial building at 160 W. Mountain Ave., with the Hill Building renovation expected by the end of 2026. That is a block from Old Town Square. And on the southeast side, PizzaVino NoCo Italiano is expected to open in the Jessup Farm area, focused on wood-fired pizza, house-made pasta, and a thoughtful wine program. Jessup Farm has steadily become one of the more curated dining pockets in the city.
